It's getting better here in Canada and the U.S., but a lot of kids are raised on very bland diets and then expected to learn to love a varied diet when they're teenagers. I say (allergies and other conditions aside) start young. That was my parents' philosophy and my brother and sister followed suit with their kids. I am looking forward to our make-up month as I did miss a few of the 160 recipes that we have cooked so far, some of them I am dying to try like the frittatas that I never got around to making, I shall start with those two and see where the very busy month of September will carry me.
Thank you for all your wonderful comments - I really enjoy getting them and reading through them! I love barley and always have it in my pantry now. Hugh's habits are rubbing off on me. Or, is it your habits? That salad with the roasted veggies does look especially tasty. If it's good enough for your girls and they like it, then I'm all in. I like your soft-boiled egg on your lentil salad. No matter the lentil salad, I intend to plop an egg on top. We don't generally soft-boil our eggs, preferring that the yolk be solid. The leeks, in my fridge, making tomorrow for lunch. I knew that red peppers are sweetest but I still wanted to use the various colors because I thought it would be pretty (and, also, it's what I had on hand). Just a wonderful post, Andrea. They tell such a gorgeous story along with your narration of the month's recipes. I can tell my wanderlust is really kicking in (not much traveling since having the kiddo) because that photo of the cottage up top makes me want to hop on a plane to northern Europe. :) Love the shutters and the overall composition. Ah, well. There will be time for that soon.

Glad to see also that you all enjoyed the dishes so much this month! We certainly have an embarrassment of riches produce-wise, eh? I'm going to have to try that aubergine curry again as I think something was wrong with my ingredients. Thank you again, as always, for coordinating and administrating the group! So nice to see that your children enjoy the vegetable variations and salads as well, which makes the preparation even more fun. I would pick out one favorite, but each single dish looks spectacular. Love the cottage shot at the beginning of the post, it does remind me of Europe. Where you ever store all of the beautiful food props I still cannot imagine that going on in a small kitchen, so I'm back to my original impression that you do live in a castle.
