Roast pork ...Dear Mark, how kind of you to stop by! Roast pork with Sauerkraut, apple slices and caraway seeds sounds like a true German treat, perfect for this time of year, and, yes, I believe, taste is passed down from generation to generation ;) Around St. Martin a lot of people enjoy eating goose (Martinsgans) and red cabbage (Rotkohl) also made with apples, which is a lovely dinner to enjoy this time of year as well. And I am quite sure that you would love that too - seeing that your maternal great-great grandmother came from Germany ;)
Sometimes I get carried away ever so slightly with the culinary-history-of-food-fun-facts, but I am always happy when my readers enjoy my posts and don't get too bored with them.
Liebe Grüße an dich und David!
AndreaAndrea_TheKitchenLionesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05188562947486964076noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5171858975021092818.post-85954157505493027262019-11-12T21:26:11.611+01:002019-11-12T21:26:11.611+01:00Dear @unknown you have left a number of very kind ...Dear @unknown you have left a number of very kind comments here - thank you for that! I've really enjoyed your St. Martin's Day series. When I was a kid in a cold climate, at this time of year we would have roast pork, and saurkraut with apple slices and caraway in it. My maternal great-great grandmother came here from Germany, and I wonder if this seasonal combination was passed down the maternal line. - MarkMarkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12390692217334899145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5171858975021092818.post-71224430283748794972019-11-11T17:07:37.478+01:002019-11-11T17:07:37.478+01:00These are adorable Andrea and the pipes add quite ...These are adorable Andrea and the pipes add quite a lovely twist.
