French Fridays with Dorie - Go-with-everything Celery Root Purée

Today the recipe for the French Fridays with Dorie group is Go-with-everything Celery Root Purée.

Dorie´s recipe is easy and since we cook quite a bit with celery root around here, I had no trouble finding some celery root (or "Celeriac") and putting the left-overs to good use. I decided to serve the Go-with-everything Celery Root Purée as an appetizer with a soft-boiled egg, beetroot salad with walnut oil and some cress – made a nice change to the usual potato purée that we eat on a regular basis.

To see how delicious the Go-with-everything Celery Root Purée made by the other members of the French Fridays with Dorie group turned out, please click here.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you “All the best for the New Year!Alles Gute für das Neue Jahr! –  Bonne et heureuse année!”. I am very much looking forward to the coming year!

    1. Thank you so much - I was going to serve this with some spicy Asian chicken at first but then completely changed my mind and opted for an appetizer - glad I did because it was a nice, healthy and light first course. Happy New Year to you and your family as well!

  2. Perfect for an appetizer. Tricia and I both enjoyed this quick and easy recipe even though neither of us had ever
used celery root before. Dorie is always showing us something new. Happy New Year to you and we look forward to
cooking with you again in 2013.

    1. Thank you, Amy! It was fun playing around with that recipe a bit - just too much potato purée these days, so I did not mind a change and neither did my family! Happy New Year to you and your family!

  13. Andrea you sure make a lot of things that I don't really care for (celeriac, beetroot, walnut oil) look amazingly beautiful and appealing. Your photos are always such a treat! Happy New Year to you!

  18. What a nice idea and, as usual, lovely pictures. I suspect that the beets were a nice twist to the purée. I never would have considered including a soft-boiled egg. In fact, I love them, never make them for myself, and we Americans very seldom put soft-boiled eggs on salads, as you know. In response to your comments on my blog, I look forward to any greetings from your little girls. When I mail something your way, I will try to use colorful and special postage stamps. A different one each time. I enjoyed receiving everyone's cards from outside the States also because I use foreign stamps in soe collage crafting I do. It's even nicer when I know who the stamps came from. As I write this comment, it is 6pm on New Years Eve in America and I realize that the calendar has already turned in Germany. So from here in America, where it's still 2012, to you in Europe where its 2013, Happy, Healthy New Year, Andrea, to you and your family.

    1. Nami, thank you very much - I just found those lovely napkin rings as part of the "new years collection" in one of my favorite stores - there are so many different ones to choose from (I know who will be one of the rather enthusiastic buyers).
